Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014

On Thursday, the students worked on different prayers for the Torah Service and Musaf. They are getting ready to lead Jr. Congregation on Dec. 6--please join us then! In addition, I will be conducting prayer assessments during the month of December, so they can show me what they've learned this year.
The 4th graders are responsible for: Ein Kamocha, Av HaRachamim, Vayehi Binsoa, Bei Ana Rachetz, and the Shema. The 5th graders are responsible for the Musaf Amidah, as well as any prayers of the Torah service they did not master last year. Please have them practice these prayers at home--this can count towards their weekly Hebrew reading practice for Mitkadem.
The students also voted to dedicate their "Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh b'Zeh" project to supporting the MSPCA. We decided that animals can be considered a part of the Jewish community because they are a part of some of our families, they have helped us throughout history, and they are even featured in Torah stories! We will be conducting a supply drive, writing letters to our political representatives, and making toys for the shelter cats. Stay tuned for ways you can help!
Please note that Parent Teacher Conferences will be held this Monday from 4-7 PM. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there. We will meet again as a class after the Thanksgiving holiday, on Monday, Dec. 1.
